1. Rod’s Berry Farm
Rodney Elmstrand had a dream in the late 1970s when he finished college: to take over the family farm that his parents had purchased 80 acres of in 1934.
However, he didn’t have the equipment to do traditional farming of corn and soybeans, so he started Rod’s Berry Farm instead.
Rod attended “Strawberry School” at the University of Minnesota and planted his first plants in 1981 with the help of his siblings.
After the first picking season in 1982, Rod married Sara, and they have been blessed with five wonderful children who have grown up helping around the farm.
Rod also worked as an Extension Educator for the Minnesota Extension Service for 27 years.
Visitors can bring their own containers or purchase containers with lids at the farm to collect their berries, or even buy pre-picked blueberries.
The farm also has plenty of picnic tables spread throughout the property, so you can take a break and enjoy a snack while you pick.
2. JQ Fruit Farm & Orchard
JQ Fruit Farm and Orchard is part of a family farm that has been around since 1906. It started with a 40 acre homestead on the north side of Princeton, Minnesota, located near the Rum River.
Frank and Nettie Penhallegon grew carrots, potatoes, and chickens on the land.
Today the family grows a variety of fruit on the farm. As well as picking delicious blueberries and other fruits, during your visit to J crew Fruit Farm you will likely see a large variety of birds that frequent the area.
Interestingly, the farm has one of the largest pollinator populations, something the family are very proud of.

3. Wold Strawberries

Knut Wold and his wife Bergit settled the farm in 1856. They had 11 children, and they all contributed to farming the land.
The Wold family takes pride in their blueberry crop, ensuring that each berry is grown with love and care. They pick the berries at the peak of ripeness and use sustainable practices to ensure that their blueberries are of the highest quality.
The blueberries from Wold Strawberries, Minnesota are incredibly juicy and sweet. Their unique flavor is the result of the farm’s rich soil, the perfect climate, and the dedication of the Wold family.

4. The Berry Patch
The Berry Patch, in Minnesota is a wonderful place to go for blueberry picking. There are several varieties of blueberries available to pick, from early season varieties to late season varieties.
The Berry Patch also offers a wide array of other berry picking options, including strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries.
The Berry Patch is an established fruit growing farm in the east Metro area. From June to August, they offer customers the chance to pick their own strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries.
They strive to provide the best quality fruit in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
The farm is a great place for a fun family outing! They welcome kids to come explore our fields and learn how food is produced. They’ll even get the chance to pick some berries and sample them in the field.
Strawberries are usually available for a three to four-week period between mid-June and early July. Raspberries generally start coming in around the 4th of July and keep going until the end of July.

5. Brambling Rows Farm
Rambling Rows Farm, in Winona, is a great place to go for a day of blueberry picking. The farm grows several varieties of blueberries, including Jersey, Bluecrop, and Chandler.
The farm is open daily during blueberry season and offers u-pick and pre-picked blueberries. The farm also offers blueberry jam and other products for sale.
John and Ruth Jansen created Brambling Rows out of their passion for horticulture and growing produce. After taking care of the farm for a long time, they sold it in April 2019 to Travis and Rachel Cobb.
Their focus is on producing a variety of fruits and vegetables that are packed with nutrients, and harvested when they are ripe. They do not have organic certification, but try to follow organic practices.
6. Blackbirds & Blueberries
This family-run farm is located in the heart of Minnesota and has been growing organic blueberries since the early 2000s. They have over 35 acres of land dedicated to growing blueberries, so you can pick as much as you want!
The farm is located near Cloquet, Minnesota on Crosby Road. It is a ‘u-pick’ farm, meaning you can pick your own berries or get pre-picked ones. You can bring your own containers or use the ones provided.
The farm follows organic practices and does not use any pesticides or chemicals on their plants. They are open on weekends, some evenings, and weekdays when the berries are ready.
7. Little Hill Berry Farm
Little Hill Berry Farm in Minnesota is a great place to go blueberry picking during the summer months. The farm is family-owned and provides the freshest and most delicious blueberries around.
Visitors will find acres of blueberry bushes to pick from, and the farm also sells ready-picked blueberries by the pound.
Aaron and Molly have spent the last 10 years transforming the rolling hills of their farm. They have replaced the corn and soybeans with organic blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, pumpkins, potatoes, and native prairie strips.
The farm now offers a beautiful and peaceful landscape, as well as delicious fruit to share with friends and family.
8. Blueberry Fields Of Stillwater
Blueberry Fields in Stillwater, Minnesota is a great place to pick fresh blueberries during the summer months. The farm is family-owned and has been in operation since 1971.
It offers a beautiful setting that includes 10 acres of blueberry bushes and a variety of other fruits and vegetables.
